US Army officers of the Cold War period were, above all else, “officers and gentlemen”, and for any formal event that would normally call for a tuxedo being worn by a civilian, a US Army officer would don his blue mess dress uniform. This US Army Late 1950s, Early 1960s Vietnam Era 3 Star “Lieutenant General” Bullion Stars & “Scrambled Eggs” Badged Blue Wool Mess Dress Jacket is in Very Good condition, with only some light overall age wear evident. Most interestingly, it’s crafted of dark blue, almost black wool gabardine, boasts 3 silver bullion embroidered stars sewn at each cuff, denoting the rank of a Lieuteant General, and those stars surmount black velvet cuff facings which are embroidered with elegant gold bullion “scrambled eggs”. It features black satin facings on the collar, sports the original, elegant bright gold bullion shoulder knots, and carries the original “Hand Tailored by / CAREY / Baltimore” maker’s label inside. A fine example of a rare, original US Army Late 1950s, Early 1960s Vietnam Era 3 Star “Lieutenant General” Bullion Stars & “Scrambled Eggs” Badged Blue Wool Mess Dress Jacket.
