Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece smooth wood featuring a straight grip, a straight comb, and a wood butt. The wood shows light to moderate nicks, scratches, and scuffs, as well as some minor handling and storage marks. There are some minor chip losses at the rear edges of the butt, most notably the toe. There are no cracks. The LOP measures 12 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt. The stock is in Very Good overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is light gray and the rifling is well-defined. There is stubborn fouling and light erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates a 7 or 8 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 30-40% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows areas of thinning and wear with some corresponding surface oxidation and patina. There are light nicks, scratches, and handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: While we see several Winchester Model 1902s and 1904s come through, this is one of the much more scarce Model 1900s. Chambered for .22 Short and Long, this is the first iteration of the very popular design lineage. A great option for new or smaller statured shooters in a very manageable caliber. We expect this rifle to be chased by serious Winchester aficionados and absolutely deserves a place of honor in any collection.
