Make: Winchester
Model: 9422 Winchester Arms Collectors Association WACA Special Edition
Serial Number: WACA018 (18 of 500)
Year of Manufacture: 1998
Caliber: .22 Long, Long Rifle
Action Type: Lever Action Rifle fed by Full-Length Tubular Magazine
Barrel Length: 16” Round. Please note the serial-matching end label on the box lists a barrel length of 20 1/2”, but the end labels on the boxes of these particular WACA 9422s are notorious for listing the wrong barrel length. With the serial-matching number factory printed, we have no doubt the barrel length and box are factory original.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade on a serrated ramped base fixed to the barrel above the muzzle. The rear sight is a U-notch with a triangle reference in an elevator sight dovetailed to the top rear of the barrel. The top of the receiver is grooved to accommodate rings for optics (none included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut featuring a banded forend, straight grip, straight comb, WACA medallion on the right side of the buttstock, and a curved buttplate. The wood shows no notable wear or damage, just light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stocks are in Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue, Gold, and Silver
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is gray and the rifling is well-defined. There is moderate fouling but no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates an 8 or 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some speckles on the receiver. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. We did not fire this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in the original Winchester serial number matching factory cardboard box with factory handouts and a WACA member button from 2006. The box is in Very Good condition, with some light peeling to the top left corner of the top illustrated label, and with some light scattered wear.
