There are a few small losses around the bottom edges and a series of small but deep nicks on the bottom face of each panel. Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 90% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. There is some finish wear on the left of the barrel toward the muzzle end and more minor wear at the muzzle on the right. There are some light nicks, scuffs, and scratches, mostly on the barrel. The action shows operational wear including a turn-line on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The cylinder lockup on this revolver is SOLID, with no play when the trigger is depressed. The double action trigger is smooth and the single action trigger breaks crisply and lightly. The action functions correctly. The revolver has a wide target hammer and serrated trigger. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: The Colt Officer’s Model Match was designed specifically for competitive shooters. Produced from 1953-1970, the hand-honed action helped many shooters win championships, and it’s generally known to be one of the finest target revolvers ever manufactured. The action on this revolver is certainly no exception, and rivals that of the Colt Python for smoothness. In addition to its 6” barrel, this revolver has a rear target sight adjustable for windage and elevation and a Patridge front sight. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and the cylinder lockup is as solid as the day it left the factory. Any Colt revolver collection is incomplete without a Colt Officer’s Model in each of its variants, and this .22 LR model would be a wonderful addition. Those looking for a high-end target revolver should also be interested in this piece – we weren’t kidding when we said it rivals the Python for smoothness.
