Our Assessment: The J-Frame Smith & Wesson revolver has been a staple of concealed carry since 1950, and will likely continue to be for decades to come. The 642-2 is among the most current J-Frame models, capable of handling +P cartridges despite its lightweight alloy frame, and with a shrouded hammer to prevent snagging or debris entering the action. This revolver is an Altamont Exclusive, “The American Scroll”, a limited edition of 300 S&W Airweights with a scroll-engraved cylinder from Merlin Enright and scroll carved Altamont grips. This is a little beauty of a revolver. Whether you're looking to display this in a collection or just like a little extra class for your carry gun, this J-frame will add nicely to any collection.
