Our Assessment:In January 1949, William B. Ruger and Alexander "Sandy" Sturm established Sturm, Ruger & Co. to manufacture their specially designed .22 rimfire autoloading blowback “Standard” Model pistol. It was marketed as an affordable .22 rimfire pistol intended for plinking and casual sport and target shooting. The “Standard” Model was the founding design of a product line of .22 Long Rifle cartridge handguns, including its later iterations: the MK I, MK II, MK III, and MK IV. The “Standard” Model and its offspring went on to become the most successful and widely adopted .22 semi-automatic pistols ever produced. The MK IV is the fourth-generation successor to the original Ruger “Standard”, introduced in 2016 and succeeding the MK III. The most notable aspect of the MK IV redesign is a hinged connection between the upper receiver and the grip frame, which enables the user to disassemble the pistol with a significantly simplified process compared to prior models. Other design changes include a redesigned trigger group, redesigned bolt stop, an ambidextrous thumb safety, and a "drop free" magazine release mechanism.
This Ruger Mark IV Hunter Pistol was made in 2016 and is in Excellent condition. It’s chambered in .22 LR, and features 99% of its crisp, original satin stainless finish, a bright bore with sharp rifling, and a 6.88” fluted bull barrel, which improves accuracy, prevents heat build up, and reduces felt recoil. This Ruger pistol will be perfect for target shooting or plinking.
