The aviation industry boomed after WW2, ranging from test pilots pushing the envelope in the skies over the Mojave Desert, to sport flying, and commercial air travel becoming far more commonplace. Sport pilots and test fliers often purchased high quality parachutes from makers who supplied American pilots and paratroopers during WW2, and that was exactly the case with the Pioneer Parachute Co. and their P3-B-24 backpack style parachute. This US Post-WW2 1940s Sport Pilot Test Flier Pioneer Parachute P3-B-24 Parachute Pack & Harness is in Good condition, with moderate overall fading, some drying and stretching to the once elastic cords at front, some scattered brownish soiling at back, missing the entire canopy, with the body of the pack now filled with foam for display, and with some overall age wear evident. Please note, we offer this set as a non-functional historical collectible only, it’s not safe to use. Most interestingly, i’s marked “PIONEER PARACHUTE / MODEL P3-B-24” along with a civilian “C.A.A.T.C.” acronym on the sewn nomenclature plate at front, and sports the original web harness with metal “D” rings, “snap hooks”, and other hardware. A great relic of the early post-war aviation boom.
