Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine, manufactured in 1929, exemplifies the classic pre-64 carbine configuration that helped define the American lever-action rifle. Chambered in .30-30 Winchester and fitted with a 20 inch barrel, this SRC reflects the balance, speed, and durability that made the Model 94 a staple for ranch, saddle, and field use well into the 20th century. Original nickel steel barrel markings, WP proofs, and correct saddle ring configuration anchor this rifle firmly within Winchester’s interwar production period.
The carbine retains strong original blue finish with honest edge wear consistent with age, while the walnut stocks remain solid and well-shaped with no structural issues. The bore is exceptionally bright with sharp rifling, reflecting careful maintenance. Period-correct ladder rear sight, factory safety features, and a crisp action complete the package. Overall condition and originality make this a representative example of a late 1920s Winchester working carbine, preserving the straightforward utility and enduring appeal of the pre-war Model 94.
