Action Type: Blowback Operated Single Action Semi-Auto Pistol

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a short blade integral to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a “U” notched base dovetailed into the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece textured black hard rubber with the “PB” circled logo. The grips are attached to a blued steel backing that encloses the front and rear edges of the grips. There is a lanyard ring mounted at the bottom rear of the grip frame on the left. The grips have even light handling wear with some more notable scuffing at the bottom of the right panel. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: "Dual Tone", Blue Slide, Phosphate Frame
Finish Originality: Original, the slide and barrel are serial-matched to the frame.
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is infrequent minor erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 8+/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 90% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. There is some light wear at the front and rear of the right slide-flat. The slide flats are taking on a plum hue. There are a few light nicks, scuffs and small scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw head is tool marked with a strong slot. The markings are generally clear, the slide legend is over-struck and the "7" in the slide serial-marking is poorly struck. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good-plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This handgun comes with a leather flap-holster, a single 7-round magazine, and a copy of a World War II Honoree listing for Carmine Donofrio. The holster is missing its belt loop and flap-strap.
Our Assessment: The M1935 is a single-action semi-automatic blowback pistol that fires .32 ACP ammunition. It is constructed from carbon steel and is equipped with a frame safety that also acts as a take down lever and slide hold open. When the last shot has been fired the slide is retained open by the empty magazine and must be held open manually by the safety lever to reload the pistol. As this pistol was built for the Italian army, all parts were interchangeable, which simplified maintenance and manufacturing: a first for Italian automatic service pistols. The mixed phosphate and blued finish is an example of late war manufacture, having been made in 1944. It bears the “4 / UT” marking which stands for Italian 4th Technical Service and represents military acceptance.
This pistol was consigned by the son of Carmine Donofrio from his collection. Donofrio was a New York native who served in the 7th Armored Division which landed at Omaha Beach in August, 1944 and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, both in George Patton's 3rd Army. It is likely that it was during this service that Donofrio acquired this Beretta M1935. Please see our photos and good luck in your bidding!
