Rare Colt Kodiak .44 Magnum Double Action Revolver & Original BoxOur Assessment: Colt introduced the Anaconda built on a new, heavy "AA" frame to compete with the Ruger Redhawk and S&W Model 29 revolvers. then colt added a few upgrades and stepped away from the snake names and came out with the Kodiak. The Kodiak is an Anaconda, but with porting and a unfluted cylinder. What Colt did was take a great gun and made it better, more attuned for hunting. After all, the follow-up should have less recoil, if ever needed, and years of hunting has made us deaf already. If you ever decide to have it engraved then the cylinder will give more area for that perfect scene. It would feel great to unholster this gun in the field and drop a bear only a few yards away… during deer season. Not to mention you are probably the only guy hunting with one.
