Restored Pre-64 1947 Winchester Model 70 Carbine .300 Savage 20" Cloverleaf Tang Bolt Action Rifle
Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is an iconic American sporting rifle that has been a staple of hunters for more than 80 years; reliable, robust, and accurate, it is one of the benchmarks by which all bolt action rifles are measured. It has more than earned its nickname of "The Riflemans Rifle", a true icon. This a Custom vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 in Carbine configuration that is chambered in .300 Savage. This inspired by a fairly scarce variant, the original Carbines made up about 1.25% of Pre-64 Model 70 production and there were only 362 of any configuration chambered for the .300 Savage. Originally developed for the Savage Model 99, the .300 Savage could push a 150 grain bullet to about 2,600 fps, fairly close to the more modern .308 Winchester. This custom rifle has been refinished and looks great. As a pre-64 Model 70 in high condition, with a great bore it will be a great shooter and a very neat addition to your collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
