Newsmap Overseas edition "Let This Do Your Talking!" Original U.S. WWII Double Sided Framed PosterThis double sided poster from 1944 has one side showing the end of a Garand rifle and bayonet with the message "Silence Means Security…Let This do Your Talking" and the other side shows the different war fronts during WWII. Concerns about national security always intensify during wartime. When the U.S. entered World War II, the Government alerted citizens to the presence of enemy spies and saboteurs. "Careless talk" posters warned people that even just a small snippet of information regarding troop movements or other logistical details would be very useful to the enemy. Well-meaning citizens could easily compromise national security and soldiers' safety with careless talk. The poster reads "Silence means security. When a man stands ready To fight–to his last drop of Blood–to his last breath of Life–he doesn't do much Talking. He lets his weapon Do that for him. And, later, he doesn't talk about where he has been– or when–or what he did–or saw. He knows that the safety of millions depends on his silence! Let this do your talking!" The second side of the poster shows a large map of France, a map of the Pacific Theater and a short description of each war front. WWII Framed poster measures 47" x 35". This original poster is in Very Good overall condition showing light to moderate wear. There are a few minor stains, edge wear, creases and abrasions along sharp folds, and a small hole in the "he doesn't do much talking" type.
