This rifle commemorates 90 years of Marlin Firearms Co. manufacturing since they opened their doors in 1870. This takedown rifle is in about Fine overall condition with 96% of its metal finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked "The Marlin Firearms Co., New Haven, Conn. U.S.A. / 22 CAL. S, L. & LR. MICRO-GROOVE BARREL" and "—MARLIN GOLDEN 39-A MOUNTIE". The lower tang is marked "T14067". The right side of the barrel at the receiver is marked with a circled "JM" proof. The upper tang is marked "Marlin NO. 216" and the lower tang is marked with the serial number. The right side of the buttstock is engraved with a squirrel motif. The inner left side of the receiver is marked "067".

Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a "U" notched rear elevator sight dovetailed into the barrel and a hooded brass beaded blade front sight dovetailed into a serrated and ramped base screwed to the barrel. The top of the receiver has three drilled, tapped, and filled holes. The left side of the receiver has two drilled, tapped, and filled holes.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut. The buttstock has a straight grip, a straight comb, and a checkered black Marlin hard rubber buttplate. The forend has a chrome steel nose cap with a chrome sling swivel on the bottom. There is also a chrome sling swivel in the belly. The Marlin Bullseye is present in the belly. There are some scattered scuffs and scratches. Grainlines on the right side of the buttstock have opened up a bit. There is a notable gas on the bottom of the forearm. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 13 3/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows some material loss at the toe and the checkering is sharp; the white spacer has receded slightly. The stocks rate in about Very Good-Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion and for the age, the bore rates a 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. The surfaces show some scattered light scratches and scrapes, notably on the receiver flanks. There is also a notable freckle of finish loss on the left side of the receiver at the rear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a factory box with an offset hammer spur and factory handouts. The box is torn in several places and held together by tape.
