Sights / Optics: This rifle is equipped with a U.S. Optics 1.8–10x variable power riflescope, serial number 10-00684. The scope features a first focal plane reticle with side parallax adjustment, capped windage turret, and exposed elevation turret with tactile clicks. The magnification ring is marked from 1.8 to 10x and turns smoothly. This is a battle-proven optic, mounted in heavy-duty rings atop the rifle’s monolithic upper rail. It shows wear consistent with field use but remains fully functional.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle has a six-position collapsible buttstock that has been permanently pinned in place to comply with California fixed-stock regulations. It features a QD sling socket, an LMT-marked California-compliant “fin” style pistol grip, and a monolithic upper with full-length integral rail and M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The ambidextrous lower receiver features mirrored controls for the bolt catch, magazine release, and safety selector. A BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle is installed. The furniture is in Excellent condition with only minor handling wear. There are also pieces of blue painter’s tape and masking tape with handwritten markings in permanent marker—these were on the rifle when it arrived on consignment and are believed to have possibly been written by Paul Walker himself.
Type of Finish: Matte Black Anodized
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original finish. Minor wear is visible near the ejection port, magwell, and bolt release. Markings are clear and sharp, including “LEWIS MACHINE & TOOL CO. U.S. PATENT PENDING” on the upper. The muzzle is equipped with an AAC blackout-style muzzle brake that also serves as a QD suppressor mount. This rifle was modified for California compliance and features a non-standard bullet button, a fin-style grip, and a buttstock that has been pinned to prevent adjustment. These compliance features were not originally designed for the platform, and the bullet button in particular results in finicky magazine fitment—magazines require extra effort to seat and remove. The compliance features can be reversed or updated in jurisdictions where legal. Overall, the rifle remains in Excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The direct impingement system cycles reliably, and the monolithic upper provides superior alignment and rigidity. Controls are crisp, and the BCM charging handle offers enhanced grip. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included with the rifle is the mounted U.S. Optics 1.8–10x FFP scope, one magazine, an installed AAC muzzle brake, and original LMT furniture. The pieces of masking and painter’s tape with handwritten notations are also included as received. Included with this item is a photocopy of a hand-written letter from Paul Walker Sr. discussing his son’s firearms and shooting experiences. We thank Mr. Walker Sr. for trusting us to help with his son’s collection.
Our Assessment: The LMT LM308MWS is one of the most respected .308 semi-automatic rifles ever built, known for its monolithic upper, precision accuracy, and field-tested durability. Selected for use by the British military as the L129A1, this rifle is designed for mission-critical reliability and repeatable long-range performance. This example includes a U.S. Optics 1.8–10x first focal plane scope with side parallax control and target turrets, making it a turnkey DMR solution.
Even more compelling is the rifle’s provenance. This firearm came to us from the collection of the late Paul Walker—beloved actor, racer, and humanitarian. It was consigned by his family and bears markings consistent with his own use, including masking and painter’s tape labeled in permanent marker that may have been applied by Paul himself. Firearms with this kind of celebrity provenance are exceedingly rare and highly sought after.
Between the battle-ready LMT platform, premium optic, rare accessories, California compliance features, and personal connection to a cultural icon, this rifle is more than just a shooter—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime collectible with true cross-market appeal for shooters, collectors, and fans of Paul Walker alike.
